Artists sought for The Point
The Point, the main arts centre in Eastleigh is seeking new artists to join its associate artist programme. The artists selected must be available to work with The Point for a 12 month period, in and/or around Eastleigh.
Four artists or companies will be chosen in total, who will be able to contribute to the daily life of the venue, based in Hampshire. April of this year will see The Point become a National Portfolio Organisation under Arts Council England. As a result, its associate artist programme will help and support artists and companies who are keen to progress to the next stage of their career and are willing to take the steps in order to achieve this.
The Point is also seeking two digital creatives, who will be based in Eastleigh's new Tec Hub. It is hoped these creatives will be artists or those from companies who already specialise in using digital technologies, and who work in areas such as gaming, motion capture, film or animation. Adding another strand to the arts in the area in this way will expand its reach and transform it into a multi arts location, extremely desirable to work with.
Successful applications for the both the associate artist programme and digital creative roles will receive mentoring, an administrative base, access to rehearsal space and specialist equipment. This will enable the artists and companies to develop considerably, as there is the time, space and resources required in order to make mistakes, learn from them and have fun. The artists and companies which will emerge from this development will have a great stead in order to proceed into the arts world.
