The BBC Children in Need Strictly Come Dancing 2016 Special, on 18 November, saw a number of Olympic Team GB stars don their glitter and their fake tan for a special edition. Team GB medallists Helen Glover MBE, Hollie Webb, Joe Clarke and Lutalo Muhammad took on the ballroom, and did their bit for BBC Children in Need 2016, as they joined the stars of Strictly Come Dancing for the annual Appeal Night.
Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers Janette Manrara, Karen Clifton, Pasha Kovalev, and new professional dancer and World Champion Neil Jones, joined the sporting stars. Helen Glover danced with Pasha Kovalev, Hollie Webb danced with Neil Jones, Joe Clarke danced with Janette Manrara and Lutalo Muhammad danced with Karen Clifton. Again presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the special Strictly show featured as part of the Children in Need 2016 Appeal Night on BBC One.
Helen Glover MBE is the number one female rower in the world; she is a two time Olympic champion. After the pressures of the Rio Olympics Strictly means she had the opportunity to try something fun and new. Hollie Webb is a British field hockey player who scored the gold medal winning penalty at the 2016 Olympic Games. As a huge Strictly fan, she did worry at first what she had let herself in for! Joe Clarke is a British slalom canoeist who won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. For Joe Strictly was something he couldn’t miss, raising money in the process to make it all the more worthwhile. Lutalo Muhammad is a British taekwondo athlete who represented Team GB at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics where he won a silver medal, eager to show off some fighting moves on Strictly.
