Immortal Tango
A world premiere will take place at The Peacock in London in March, kick-starting the month with some fiery footsteps at the theatre. Immortal Tango will run from 1-19 March 2016, set to delight audiences with international Tango star Germán Cornejo welcomed back to London with his new company. March will see the world premiere of the first dance spectacular Immortal Tango, following a recent Tango trend.
The show features Cornejo and his cast of world-class tango superstars, including his long-term dance partner and collaborator Gisela Galeassi, bringing alive the glamour of vintage Hollywood mixed with the elegant costumes, magical atmosphere and intoxicating dance moves of Argentina. The 14 dancers, including five World Tango Champions, will be joined by a live band playing the Tango rhythms of Buenos Aires and the presenting the smooth vocals of renowned Argentine singer Antonela Cirillo.
The musical accompaniment to the show will cover the work of some of the most revered tango composers, such as Matos Rodriguez and Piazzolla, interspersed with Hollywood blockbuster tunes popularised by iconic singers such as Celine Dion, Madonna and Adele, all with a Tango twist. Set against the passionate moves of the Tango, the show looks set to inspire and reset Tango in the minds of dance lovers.
Artistic director and choreographer Cornejo is widely acclaimed by critics and audiences all over the world as one of the leading Tango artists working today. He is the choreographer and lead dancer of the international sensation Tango Fire, of which the smash hit show Flames of Desire won Best Theatre Production in the 2015 UK Latin Awards.
Cornejo and his dance partner Galeassi are both World Tango Champions and are widely known for their performances with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Antony. With such hefty credits to their names, audiences will welcome the chance to take part in a free post-show Tango class for same day ticket holders on 8 and 15 March.
