My First Ballet: Swan Lake
English National Ballet and English National Ballet School are jointly presenting another of their 'My First Ballet' series, setting the stage with Swan Lake. The iconic Tchaikovsky ballet will be retold to become accessible and enjoyable for younger audiences as young as three years old, in order to introduce them to ballet in perhaps a more entertaining way. My First Ballet: Swan Lake has been adapted to one hour in length, with a narrator to help young audiences follow the story.
My First Ballet: Swan Lake will open at the Peacock Theatre in London on 2 April before embarking on a six week nationwide tour, enabling many young audiences to experience the magic of classical ballet. This is the fourth ballet in the My First Ballet series and probably the most well-known, with its famous score and White and Black Swans. The production is tailor-made for a first visit to the ballet, allowing young audiences to discover the magic of Swan Lake. My First Ballet: Swan Lake is choreographed by George Williamson, English National Ballet’s Associate Artist, and award-winning former student at English National Ballet School.

As part of the project English National Ballet School and English National Ballet are working in partnership with King’s College London, Widgit and Sign 2 Learn, in order to make ballet more accessible to children with learning difficulties and disabilities by creating a range of symbol resources. Widgit symbols support written text to make the meaning clearer and easier to understand. These resources are available to download for free and extra activities are printed in programmes at venues throughout the My First Ballet: Swan Lake tour. The My First Ballet: Swan Lake Symbol Resources are designed for use before, during and after performances.
