NDTA Conference 2013 - Moving On: a new era for dance in the school curriculum

On 23 November, the 2013 National Dance Teachers Association conference will take place, titled Moving On: a new era for dance in the school curriculum. Held at Trinity Laban, London, the conference for this year will explore changes to the national curriculum, such as the recent talk of merging drama and dance, and best practice in dance education. Including keynote presentations, seminars and practical workshops, Moving On will support teachers and those interested in dance in schools to understand and implement the curriculum changes in the best possible way. The day will include a whole host of information to ensure dance teachers are at the top of their game within the education system. Ideas for teaching primary, secondary, GCSE and A Level dance will inspire lesson plans, guides for implementing the new national curriculum with key actions, advice and guidance will reassure, tips for teaching an 'outstanding' dance lesson using Ofsted inspection criteria will be covered and practical sessions led by respected dance education specialists and professional dance artists will have teachers engaging first hand. Teachers will be able to have their say on the latest issues facing dance in schools and continue the debate. The day will end with an inspiring performance of young people's dance and the chance to network with other teachers, share tips and experience and connect with peers. The day is full of relevant and beneficial information and experiences, leaving teachers refreshed and fully informed about dance in schools from primary to initial teacher training. The conference is administered by Youth Dance England.
