New English Ballet Theatre - dancing for Nepal

New English Ballet Theatre and some special guests will present 'Dancing for Nepal' from 20-22 August at St James Theatre, London. Four special performances aim to raise funds for the Nepal earthquake relief effort and as a result will see a varied and exciting programme that will consist of four works in NEBT’s touring repertoire, a brand new pas de deux, and two performances by guest artists.

NEBT will perform Tangents, choreographed by former Dutch National Ballet dancer Daniela Cardim Fonteyne; Orbital Motion, choreographed by the Royal Ballet’s Valentino Zucchetti; Toca by Royal Ballet’s Erico Montes; and Mad Women by the Royal Ballet’s Kristen McNally. Simultaneously performing and raising funds for the crucial cause, it is a coup to secure guests from the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet too.

The donations as a result of the performances will be directed towards providing vital mid-term recovery through the monsoon season in Nepal (June-September) and the period following this. Initial relief aid was aimed at providing immediate relief supplies (food, water, shelter) and health and veterinary camps. Recovery projects cover the building of transitional mid-term housing, rebuilding of schools and health posts/clinics, implementation and training of sanitation and hygiene projects.

NEBT made its debut at the Peacock Theatre in 2012 with a cast and crew of graduates and young professionals in the ambitious and critically acclaimed programme Synergies. A successful fund raiser at the Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre followed in October 2013 and in July 2014 this modern ballet company returned to the Peacock with Tryst: Devotion & Betrayal, a bold programme of five world premieres by some of the UK’s emerging choreographic talent. 2015 sees NEBT on tour for the first time in an exciting programme of five works.
