The Phantom of the Opera's new tour

It has been announced that the newly reinvented production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera will launch a North American tour this November in Providence, Rhode Island. This will be the first Phantom tour in the US for three years, announced by Cameron Mackintosh and Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group, who will produce the tour. This new tour boasts updated staging and scenic design whilst retaining Maria Björnson’s amazing costumes, with a complete tour schedule to be announced in the coming weeks. Coincidentally, the new production of Phantom touring will naturally compliment the fact that 2013 has seen the show celebrate 25 years on Broadway, in addition to the show receiving huge critical acclaim in the UK. Since its debut, Phantom has grossed more than $890 million on Broadway. In addition to huge amounts of hard work, the new production of Phantom will reveal choreography by Scott Ambler, set design by Paul Brown, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Mick Potter and musical supervision by John Rigby. The production is additionally overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh. The new Phantom will retain its haunting score by Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Charles Hart (and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), with the book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. This reinvented production of Phantom was first unveiled at Plymouth Theatre Royal in the UK in March 2012. In addition to New York, there are currently production of Phantom in London, Budapest (Hungary), Kyoto (Japan), and Seoul (Korea). Worldwide, the show has played more than 65,000 performances and has been seen by 130 million people in 28 countries and 148 cities in 13 languages. The new version of Phantom will play more than 20 multi-week engagements.
