Simon's new show?
It has been rumoured that music mogul Simon Cowell is planning a TV dance show to rival Strictly Come Dancing, incidentally after The X Factor being battered in the ratings and Strictly increasing the gap between them. Simon has lodged 'You Should Be Dancing' with the official Trade Mark Register for 'a program featuring dance performances and a dancing competition', but perhaps no professional dancers.
Also rumoured has been the fact Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon, Simon's former fellow panellist on the show, were believed to be linked to the new project 'You Should Be Dancing'. Alesha's popularity on Britain's Got Talent has worked in her favour over the past year, creating a panellist who is loveable and fun. A pilot is likely next year, with the show featuring elements of Strictly but involving members of the public and an international voting system. As with The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent series, it is understood Cowell also plans to extend the format overseas.

It is interesting to note that Simon wished to buy Strictly a few years ago, attracted by its success and audience appeal. It is clear that supremo Simon should never be underestimated in terms of successful television: Simon knows his market and has the ability to devise shows which attract soaring ratings overall. Simon's company is constantly devising names to register, with ideas for show formats also coming thick and fast.
