Most of us have a song that just makes us want to get up on the dance floor and showcase our finest moves. Or a song that makes us bust out our best routine in the kitchen while we’re washing up.
We wanted to know exactly what song has that effect on the people of the UK, so we polled 1,541 people and asked them which song makes them dance.
You probably won’t be surprised to find that Pharrell Williams’ up tempo hit, “Happy,” came out as the number one choice taking 12% of all the votes.
The award winning song was first featured in the animated film Despicable Me 2 and was then released as a single last year with a “24-hour video” featuring 24 hours of different people dancing to the song!
Beyonce and Lady Gaga each had two songs in the top 20, with Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” being the third most popular song that gets people in the mood for a boogie.
As well as more recent songs, a few golden oldies also make it into the top 20, including ABBA’s 1976 hit “Dancing Queen”, Whitney Houston’s 1987 song “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “YMCA” by the Village People from 1978.
