Virtual Open Day: London Contemporary Dance School
Wednesday 5 November saw London Contemporary Dance School host it's Virtual Open Day, which visitors were able to watch and partake in if they were unable to physically visit The Place for London Contemporary Dance School. Beginning at 11am, the Virtual Open Day for the School enabled audiences to see what life is like at the one of the world’s leading dance conservatories.
With a mix of live streaming and pre-recorded footage audiences could see a range of classes including technique, composition, cultural studies and music from the BA Hons degree course. Also on offer was the chance to hear choreographer Crystal Pite talk about her work, followed by audiences watching an excerpt of the rehearsal for Polaris, which she created for See the Music, Hear the Dance at Sadler’s Wells.
In a nod back towards the more traditional school or college open day, both prospective students and other members of the audience were able to join the conversation with the current London Contemporary Dance School students in a live Q&A. Despite the audiences still being virtual online, there was lots of opportunity to submit any questions to the students about their experiences in the live Q&A’s throughout the afternoon. Questions could be submitted in advance via Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #LCDSLive.
The Virtual Open Day can still be watched, accessed via the below video or the website www.lcds.ac.uk/live.
