Pixie Lott to star in Breakfast at Tiffany's
Pop star Pixie Lott is to star in Truman Capote's iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's, hitting the capital's West End stage following a UK and Ireland tour of the musical. Adapted by Pulitzer Prize-winning Finalist, and Tony and Olivier Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, the show will run in the West End for twelve weeks at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2016.
Lott will star as Holly Golightly in the limited season of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the classic brought to life by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film. It will be presented in a co-production with the Curve Theatre, Leicester, and contains memorable songs from the era as well as original music by Grant Olding. The feel of the production will retain its stylish and romantic feel, set in New York in the Second World War, but is said to be rougher-edged and more candid than audiences may remember.
Dramatising the alluring Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which will be directed by Nikolai Foster - the Artistic Director of Curve - as part of his inaugural season for the company, will begin performances in Leicester on 3 March 2016, before embarking on its tour. The season at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London will be from 30 June to 17 September 2016, after touring to Canterbury, Leeds, Salford, Birmingham, Southampton and Plymouth.
Pixie Lott studied at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts from the age of 11, and appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium. Lott’s debut single, Mama Do, was released in June 2009 and went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart. Her second single, Boys and Girls, also topped the UK chart in September 2009. The lead single of Lott's second album, All About Tonight, became her third UK number one. She was a quarter finalist in Strictly Come Dancing 2014.
Further dates and casting for the show are yet to be announced.
